Ayurveda is one of the oldest healing systems in the world. It originated in ancient India.
In Sanskrit “Ayu” means life and “veda” means knowledge, which makes the definition of Ayurveda “science of life” or “the art of longevity”.
There are five great elements: Ether, Air, Water, Fire and Earth. These five elements condense to the Three doshas: Vata, Pitta and Kapha.
Vata, being a combination of Air and Ether, has cold, dry, light, mobile and irregular qualities, and governs all body movement and regulates the nervous system. Pitta, being a combination of Fire and Water, has hot, oily, light and intense qualities, controls our energy, and digestion including thought processing, vision and blood circulation. Kapha, being a combination of Water and Earth, has heavy, cold, oily, stable qualities, and is related to our stability and lubrication
Everyone is unique on a multi-dimensional scale. Each person has a combination of Vata, Pitta and Kapha in different proportions, where usually one dosha will be dominant. Apart from constitutional types that do not change during our lifetime, there are current imbalances that we have as temporary issues or chronic diseases.
If there are imbalances, we recommend a diet, detox program, herbs, and lifestyle change to address the specific unique situation. If everything is alright, we make sure you understand how to maintain your health and wellness and prevent disease formation. Also, Ayurveda is not against any western medicine; it can be a natural alternative or work together being complementary.
